September's Butterfly Flitty Friend

The Forbe’s Silkmoth is a fascinating sighting!

This species is particular to South Texas, so it’s a real treat to see them in person!  They “pair up” twice a year, Feb-April and then latter in the year, Sept-Nov. The beautiful reddish browns and creams are complimented by a green tinge when the sun light hits just right. The patterns are mirrored on each side.

The Forbe’s Silkmoth’s wingspan measures 5 to 6” inches! Their preferred hang out is an Ash tree, native to the Valley.

Fun fact: It can take two to three years for an adult to emerge from the pupa!

It's been suggested, and we love the idea, to incorporate the butterfly's host plant color into your creation!

So, here are a few Lamb's Loom shop yarn suggestions for your project! Come by and get yours, or give us a call and we will ship to you...and as always, feel free to dive into your own stash! ☺
