This guy was spotted at the SPI Birding Center last summer! The Green Heron resides in the RGV year-round. They can regularly be seen around resacas, canals and streams ~ PLUS they are known to fish around backyard ponds!
The Green Heron is shorter than its cousins and usually does not wade when fishing, but fishes from the water’s edge. Their coloring provides wonderful camouflage and at first glance they look very dark, but when you zoom in, WOW! The deep teal of their back sets off the russet tones of their neck and stomach; all topped off with the dark grey and gold of their wings.
So, keep your eye out around your local resaca, you never know!
It's been suggested, and we love the idea, to incorporate and use all the colors represented in the pictures above into your creation... flowers, water, leaves!
So, here are a few Lamb's Loom shop yarn suggestions for your project! Come by and get yours, or give us a call and we will ship to you...and as always, feel free to dive into your own stash! ☺
