May's MAYk-Along!
Although originally from Australia, the Cardinal Ladybug now lives all over the world…well, except Antarctica! Red body, black spots and brown legs make up their color scheme, but their wings are covered with tiny hairs. They were brought to Texas to help with pest control and have made themselves right at home. They do love to eat, as do all Ladybugs, but their favorite meal is a small bug that eats citrus and native trees. So, our local farmers must love these ladies! Enjoy

Keep looking UP!
The Fifteen-spotted Lady Beetle’s habitat stretches from Canada to Texas and across most of the US, east to west. It can be found in several different colors such as cream, yellow, brownish red and even purple! They primarily feed on aphids that are found in trees. Keep looking up! Polishing things up!
Meet the Polished Ladybug. This ladybug is one of the few ladybugs in North America without any spots at all! They usually begin to show up in early spring, so keep your eye out. They eat aphids exclusively…so that is a huge help with all the new blooms pushing out this time of year! Polish away!!! 😉

Seven-spot Ladybug
The Seven-spot Ladybug was introduced to North America years ago and has apparently made itself at home all across the country. This time of year you may not see any, as we are experiencing South Texas “winter” temperatures. That means that they are hibernating till things warm up. Ladybugs, as well as other insects, will spend their winter in hollow sticks, like our many sunflowers that have died off for winter. SO, don’t pitch those “dead” sticks…there are just a well disg

We saw one in The Lamb’s Loom garden just a few days ago. These pretty, and fierce little jewels flit around your yard eating up all kinds of pests. Lending a hand to your gardening area by keeping the aphids and others at bay. Born on a mission, they have a huge impact on our world, just like Ann. Welcome the
