Meet the Yellow-Breasted Chat!

The Yellow-Breasted Chats migrate to Central America for the winter, and some do over winter here in the Rio Grande Valley. They are quite the chatter boxes in the spring!

They tend to stay in low brushy areas and can be hard to spot. Their main foods are a large variety of bugs and they will also eat wild berries. Our native Fiddlewood tree is a good source of berries.

And! As it turns out, our April bird comes fully colored in the Pantone colors for 2021!
