Meet the Painted Bunting!

This lovely bird migrates down to South Texas in the fall and will head north again in the spring, just as many of our Winter Texan friends.

The male looks like a box of crayons with wings! He isn't hard to spot among the natural habitats of our area, that's for sure! While they breed in Central and Eastern US, they spend the winter here and further south into Central America.

The female and first year males are a yellow-green color.
